Friday 24th July, 2117h and currently sitting on Kalina's bed in Granowo, Polska. Kalina has gone for a bath and I am listening to Ehma typing up
this update. We stayed in Dover overnight on the beach with sleeping bag over us. A mixture between warm and cold to be honest, didn't help when
it started to rain and we had to move. Eventually it became about 6am and Kalina was so cold she wanted to go, so we packed up and made our way
towards the "travel centre" for Dover. None of the ferry counters were open, so we just waited and waited and waited. At about 7am they started
opening up. After questioning the P&O price and the SeaFrance price, we went with SeaFrance as it was cheaper. The next ferry was at 0810h, so we
booked it at total of £24 and got the ferry. Arriving in Calais about 1025, we walked off and followed the other foot passengers. We got dropped off
at some kind of welcome terminal, found a map of Calais, looked at where we were, and where to go, and headed off. Arriving at the slipway to the
motorway, we put our rucksacks down, put our mark on the back of a sign - xtremefx et kruda 23/07/09 - and with our sign saying 'POLSKA', which we made
from a piece of paper on the ferry, we waited. Maybe not even half an hour and we got our first ride, heading about 100 miles I think, maybe kilometres
to Brugge, we took it. The guy had his break and while he had his break, we hitched and if we weren't successfull he'd give us a lift to the junction
where he turns off. Within ten minutes, someone pulled over and was going all the way to Poland, and was going the right way in Poland. Through
a lot of sleeping and breaks and not sure what was going on or where we were, we ended up, on the outskirts of Poznan with 9 ZL at 10am-ish on the
24th of July 2009. Walking to a bus stop, Kalina then looked and saw where we might be able to get to, after a bus,a tram and one train (the bus was
free ;)) we ended up in Granowo, Kalina's home. Seeing her parents, her sister, brother, nephew, the family was nice. We tried going to sleep
however since we were tired. Without much success, I said to Kalina why don't we go get piercings now then, so Kalina went and washed her hair, came
back and put her shoes on, we sorted out our stuff and set off, hitching to a town 100km away, got there with two lifts, we got our piercings and
came back, two lifts on way back and getting pulled over by the police. Thankfully being English can help you, as the driver who picked us up didn't
get a fee, the officers didn't want to show the bad side of the Polish Police. Now here I am typing up this, charging Stewie the Sat. Nav. and about
to watch an episode of Sanctuary I think, and carry on waiting for my dear Kalina to come from her shower. Tomorrow is hair dying day, after that I
am not too sure. We will see if Marion responds and we can go to Germany to see her and pick up my stuff, their is the open-air festival also I
guess, and then we also have to get to Odessa for the 2nd hitch-hiking festival. Should be interesting I hope. So then, updated a little, so I'll go
now, xiao.
